I should also say the only real problem I have seen outside of the errors showing is Plex Media Server having an issue streaming my media that is kept on a separate hard drive from the main system. After upgrading, the LVM system will not load, What Im getting after GRUB is::: Starting udev. Skipping fsck. ERROR: Unable to find root device devmapperVolGroup0-lvRoot. Any ideas Thanks Ben Last edited by ben-arch (2012-04-24 17:37:23). Edit: Problem is that I havent added lvm2 hook to mkinitcpio.conf. Now that I have added it I understand that I have to run mkinitcpio -p linux in boot to regenerate the kernel. Problem is - how to do it Ive tried booting with Arch install media, then mounted my original boot. Entered it and ran mkinitcpio -p linux What Im getting is: Preset linux does not exist. Exiting And of course I cant mount my original root as it is inside the said LVM:-( Ideas any1 Thanks Last edited by ben-arch (2012-04-24 16:50:47). Acpi Pnp0510 32Bit Version 4.0 Upgrade The SystemAfter a fresh install, I try to upgrade the system: pacman -Syy pacman -Syu: it asks for pacman update, I say yes. Thanks for any help Last edited by John0000 (2012-07-19 14:52:17). Did you read this guide There is thread about it also: And Allan wrote a blog entry about upgrading from core installation: e-install BTW as Pres suggested go with the net-install, core installation was always kind of a fallback for me and I had to do this just once because of network troubles. It just doesnt make much sense to do core installation if there is no holdback because with first pacman -Syu youll end up downloading the same amount of data as if you would do a clean net-install, and its faster and you probably wont get conflicts accumulated from year or so. After an update the system freezes at startup after detecting the LVM volume groups (3 lvm volumes found in volume group Laptop or something similar). This is my hard disk configuration: 0 - 200MB, ext2, boot 1 - 100MB, NTFS, something that belongs to Windows 2 - 50GB, NTFS, Windows 7 3 - Extended 4 - 100GB, NTFS, data 5 - 150GB, lvm 5.1 - swap 5.2 - root, jfs 5.3 - home, jfs If you need more informations just ask me for them. Thanks in advance. Last edited by turlando (2012-05-01 12:35:41). The installation failed in the SAFEOS phase with an error during BOOT operation. HOOKSbase systemd autodetect block keymap encrypt lvm2 filesystems fsck vbox some people tried suggesting downgrading to systemd 204 but i dont have any pkg file and building with abs leads to the following error while makepkg -s: Starting prepare(). Can anyone help me solve either the build or the boot issue i should mention that i am only able to access my system by using chroot from an arch boot stick. Thank you so much. Kind Regards Last edited by ziv667 (2013-10-01 11:27:06). Other hooks (like encryption) would need to be ported, and may not work as intended. As of systemd 207, this hook does not work as intended when combined with lvm2 and may break your boot. You also may wish to still include the base hook (before this hook) to ensure that a rescue shell exists on your initramfs. Have you tried keeping udev instead of replacing it with systemd hook Have you tried ckMachine It has systemd 204. So after I updated about a week ago I start seeing errors at boot. Never could quite see exactly what they were so today I logged dmesg to a text file.
